Global usage of digital tools and devices is skyrocketing and Iranians are not falling behind either. Since Iran is home to more than 80 million people, people’s interaction with digital devices plays a significant role in digital marketing trends. In a published report by the Measuring Information Society of Iran, active users make more than 50% of the population, older than 6 years old. This population also consists of 41% and 63% computer and social media users, respectively. Amazingly, 78% or 62 million people are considered to be mobile phone users and more than half of them use their cellular data. In another finding, a 2016-17 timeline shows that the share of web traffic by laptops, tablets, and other devices in Iran has declined. Among the internet users in Iran, 74% use the internet for the purpose of communication, approximately 60% for entertainment, less than half for e-commerce and e-government services, and 13% for e-banking.
